Three key questions to develop a commercial plan for this year

A few days before the end of the second month of 2018, many of us must be wondering how we are doing with the goals proposed at the end of last year, while others will have realized the importance of grounding the strategy in an action plan.

A good business plan helps companies to resolve key points about their business while serving as a reference document to execute the marketing strategy. Similarly, among its several advantages, this plan organizes a strategy for the creation of products or services that meet the needs of users.

Now, although it is true that when we design a plan of this type, we have to take into account the main objectives and how they are going to be achieved, three key questions must be resolved when you start thinking about developing a business plan and are the following:

 

Where are we today?

A projection into the future means a look at what has been achieved to analyze the lessons learned, be they good or bad. The answer to this simple question should not be short but it should be clear since it helps to understand that the decisions that are made have a path that comes from before and that has resulted in what the company is today with its strengths and weaknesses.

 

Where would we like to be tomorrow?

Once the current panorama is understood and why it is as it is now, it is time to ask this question for the future, which will be based on the strategic decisions that are made. A commercial plan must always be thought of with a view to where you want to be.

 

What must we do to go from where we're today to where we want to be tomorrow?

After performing the analysis tasks and the strategic decisions have been made, it is time to talk about the tactical part. In a demand-oriented company, the business plan becomes a fundamental piece, so it should be built with all the key players in the organization. A multidisciplinary team that understands the different dimensions of the company can create a tactical plan that covers all fronts and leads to its evolution.
